Is the task of summarizing all your teen's accomplishments over four years and placing them on one transcript distressing? Take heart! This workshop will help give shape and form to your non traditional classes and experiences as well as how to place traditional courses on a transcript. Basic instruction is provided for giving titles and labels to classes and establishing credit. Barb's assistance results in a transcript written in traditional language understood by "the system".

Getting Ready For High School and Beyond Teen Workshop

Friday, July 25, 2008 • 6:30 – 9:00 pm • Winter Haven, FL

Designed specifically for you, the high school student and your parents. You will be encouraged to take more responsibility for your education by being an active partner with your parents, developing a creative core curriculum, and establishing your course as a team.

Home schooling through high school is a cooperative effort that takes discussion, thoroughness, and planning to achieve your goals. A resource packet will be given to each teen.

This is an interactive session between Barbara and the teens. The teens sit up front and the parents sit quietly in the back. Parents are welcome and invited to ask questions during the last 30 minutes of the workshop.

Cost is $20 per teen. Advance registration is required and must be postmarked one week before the event. Each teen must have a parent attending or be registered with another adult. Parents attend free of charge.

Join Barb Mesh and hostess Leah Kirby, to discover the options of starting the education process before Kindergarten. This seminar is designed to also encourage parents getting ready to tackle the early elementary school years.

Topics covered will include becoming a member of private alternative schools (umbrella schools)verses registering under the Florida home education law, creating an encouraging learning environment, examining relaxed and traditional approaches, reviewing appropriate curriculum and activities to use at the pre school age through third grade, as well as finding support available for social and educational outlets.

Cost is $25 per person and $30 per couple. Advance registration is necessary and must be postmarked one week before the event. Please note: 10 registrations are required in order for the workshop to take place.

Each family receives a Resource Packet. Please bring a 3 ring binder in which to place your materials.

Getting Ready For High School and Beyond Teen Workshop

Tuesday, April 24, 2007 • 6:30 – 9:00 pm • Winter Haven
Friday, July 27, 2007 • 6:30 – 9:00 pm • Lakeland

Designed specifically for you, the high school student and your parents. You will be encouraged to take more responsibility for your education by being an active partner with your parents, developing a creative core curriculum, and establishing your course as a team.

Home schooling through high school is a cooperative effort that takes discussion, thoroughness, and planning to achieve your goals. A resource packet will be given to each teen.

This is an interactive session between Barbara and the teens. The teens sit up front and the parents sit quietly in the back. Parents are welcome and invited to ask questions at the end of the workshop.

Cost is $15 per teen. Advance registration is required and must be postmarked one week before the event. Each teen must have a parent attending or be registered with another adult. Parents attend free of charge.

The April 24th Teen Workshop will take place at Cypress Ridge Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven.

The July 27th Teen Workshop will take place at Cambridge Study Center in Lakeland.
